A Note from our Founder of Chance of Sunny
Hi, I’m Heather Henderson, and I’m the founder of Chance of Sunny — a personal care brand rooted in gentle, plant-based ingredients and the power of essential oils to soothe the body and the mind.
More than six years ago, I picked up my shower gel and realized I couldn’t pronounce a single ingredient on the label. That moment changed everything. I wanted to feel confident about what I was putting on my skin every day — so I decided to make my own.
I enrolled in aromatherapy classes and became a certified aromatherapist. I studied plant-based body care with my mentor Amy Galper in NYC, and spent the next few years formulating in my kitchen. I tested every batch on friends and family, narrowing it down to three essentials I couldn’t live without: a gentle body wash, a hydrating lotion, and a nourishing oil.
My family has always been my why. All of us — myself, my parents, my brother (who’s a veterinarian), my twin sister Holly, her husband George and their children George and Chloe — have sensitive skin. We’ve tried just about everything on the shelf, but nothing ever felt quite right. So I created something better — products that are safe enough for delicate baby skin, gentle enough for daily use, and calming enough to bring a little peace to a busy day.
When I wasn’t mixing formulas at home, I was working with my brother at his veterinary practice. Seeing how stressed the staff and doctors were inspired me to lean even more into the power of aromatherapy — not just for skin, but for the nervous system. I became more intentional than ever about each ingredient, blending function with comfort.
My mom — who we lost a few years ago — was my biggest cheerleader. I was her caregiver during the last years of her life, and she was so proud to be my very first product tester. Her encouragement still fuels me every day.
And Chance of Sunny wouldn’t be what it is without my twin sister Holly’s support — or without my niece Chloe (that’s her behind the emails and some of the social media!). Our family’s love, sensitivity (in more ways than one), and resilience are the heart of everything we create.
Chance of Sunny is for families like ours — and maybe like yours, too. For anyone who wants to make their everyday routines feel a little brighter, a little gentler, and a lot more joyful.
